Yes – you’ll need an Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) or equivalent evidence we accept. If you don’t have one yet, we’ll guide you on the next steps so you can get it sorted before teaching.

We offer tutoring across core subjects (Maths, English, Sciences) and a wide range of options including Humanities, Languages and more. We also welcome specialist tutors for admissions tests, interview preparation, and coding (matched case-by-case depending on demand).

Pay is £13/hr for 11+/KS3/GCSE and £15/hr for A-Level/IB. We run performance reviews every 6 months, which can lead to pay increases. Coding, admissions test prep, and interview prep rates are higher and agreed individually.

Rates are set by LuminaryTutors for standard tuition so parents get consistent pricing and tutors get predictable pay. Specialist services are priced individually.

Tutors are paid monthly for lessons delivered in the previous month. Payments are processed in the first full working week. You can track lessons and totals clearly through the portal.

Our standard policy is 12 hours’ notice. Lessons cancelled within 12 hours or no-shows are charged, with exceptions considered for genuine extenuating circumstances at Admin discretion. Tutors wait up to 15 minutes if a student is late.

A laptop or desktop, stable Wi-Fi, webcam and mic (headphones recommended), and a quiet space. We use an online classroom with an interactive whiteboard and built-in tools — no special software required, just a modern browser.

No. To keep everything safe and consistent, communication stays within the platform. Parents contact Admin for scheduling or payments, and tutors focus on teaching and lesson notes.

Yes — lessons are recorded for safeguarding, quality assurance, training/monitoring, and dispute resolution. Recordings are stored securely with restricted access.

We match based on your subjects, levels, availability, and teaching style. Once onboarded, you’ll receive student offers that fit your timetable, with Admin support for scheduling and changes.
